Welcome to the revised Focus on Pre-K !

Teachers use the Focus on Pre-K curriculum to facilitate powerful learning experiences for three- and four-year-olds in Boston Public Schools and community-based programs across the city and beyond. Revised for the 23-24 school year, the curriculum supports children's development across intellectual, social-emotional, and physical domains, addressing State learning standards in Approaches to Play and Learning, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science and Engineering, and integrating the Arts in child-driven and teacher-guided learning experiences. National research has identified Focus on Pre-K as one of the strongest, most consistently proven interventions for closing the achievement gap.

An overview of curricular changes can be found in these slides: Focus on Pre-K Orientation to Revisions, and in the welcome letter linked above.

Please see the Introductory Documents for detailed explanations of how the curricula for three- and four-year-olds are put together, descriptions of each component, and teaching tools.
